Role Purpose

We are seeking an experienced Salesforce Technical Lead to provide senior technical leadership for the execution of global Salesforce capabilities spanning:

  • Sales Cloud
  • Service Cloud
  • Field Service
  • Experience Cloud
  • Marketing Cloud
  • B2B Commerce Cloud

This role is accountable for the end‑to‑end technical delivery and quality of a scalable, reusable, and governed set of Salesforce solutions, executed within an agreed enterprise Salesforce strategy and architecture. The role requires advanced problem‑solving capability and technical judgement to pragmatically balance long‑term maintainability, platform sustainability, and technical debt against delivery timelines and speed to market. The role provides senior technical leadership and day‑to‑day management of technical delivery across internal and contingent development resources (including System Integrator partners), driving solution design recommendations, enforcing development standards, and ensuring high‑quality delivery through established governance and architecture approval forums. The role includes hands‑on development, refactoring, and review of developed solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Execution & Ownership
    • Oversee the technical design and build of group‑owned solutions, co‑ordinating and managing the contribution of internal and contingent development resources.
    • Review documented Low‑Level Designs ensuring alignment to High‑Level Design and Architecture, identifying aspects for improvement.
    • Define and maintain reusable components, configurations, and deployment patterns.
    • Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, security, and data governance standards as defined by central teams.
    • Define and enforce coding and configuration best practices across all delivery teams.
    • Review the quality of delivered solutions, including documentation, and provide technical sign‑off prior to progression into SIT and QA testing.
    • Apply advanced technical problem‑solving to resolve complex and ambiguous delivery challenges, making pragmatic trade‑off decisions between maintainability, scalability, risk, and speed to market.
  2. Platform Configuration & Customisation
    • Own configuration and customisation across:
      • Sales processes and automation
      • Case management and omnichannel routing
      • Field Service scheduling and mobile app extensions
      • Experience Cloud portals
      • Marketing Cloud journeys and integrations
    • Design, build, and review Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), integrations, and API‑based solutions.
    • Ensure clear separation between global core functionality and approved local market extensions.
    • Adopt and mature source‑driven and package‑based development approaches.
  3. Technical Leadership
    • Provide technical leadership, direction, mentoring, and delivery oversight for internal Salesforce developers and contingent resources (including System Integrator partners), including work allocation, technical prioritisation, and quality assurance, without formal line management responsibility.
    • Conduct design reviews, code reviews, and quality assurance oversight.
    • Drive solution design recommendations and progress them through established architecture and governance forums for approval.
    • Contribute to DevOps practices including CI/CD, source control, and release management.
    • Ensure delivered solutions meet agreed technical and quality standards.
    • Influence senior IT stakeholders and System Integrator partners to adopt agreed architectural standards and approved design patterns, challenging deviations and escalating where required to protect platform integrity and delivery quality.
  4. Integration & Data Architecture
    • Design and recommend scalable integrations with ERP, telephony, marketing, and third‑party platforms in line with agreed enterprise architecture standards.
    • Recommend API‑led and event‑driven architecture patterns for governance approval.
    • Ensure consistency of data models across regions and deployments.
    • Support data migration approaches and global rollout activities.
  5. Governance, Standards & Continuous Improvement
    • Apply and uphold global Salesforce development standards and technical guardrails.
    • Partner with Enterprise Architecture and Security teams to ensure compliant execution.
    • Define and maintain technical documentation standards.
    • Identify, manage, and reduce technical debt through continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Produce and maintain Key Design Decision (KDD) documentation to support governance forums, delivery alignment, and long‑term maintainability.
  6. Stakeholder & Partner Engagement
    • Act as the primary technical delivery contact for business stakeholders and delivery teams.
    • Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Architects, and Delivery Leads.
    • Provide technical oversight of SI and consultancy partners to ensure quality and consistency.
    • Support global rollouts and regional enablement activities.
    • Establish strong technical credibility with senior IT and delivery stakeholders through evidence‑based recommendations and practical experience.

Required Experience

  • 8+ years Salesforce platform experience.
  • 3+ years in a Senior Developer, Technical Lead, or Development Lead role.
  • Proven experience delivering complex, multi‑cloud Salesforce implementations.
  • Experience supporting global package based solutions rollouts across multiple business units.
  • Demonstrated experience operating in complex delivery environments requiring strong technical judgement, senior stakeholder influence, and pragmatic decision‑making under delivery pressure.
  • Strong hands‑on knowledge of:
    • Apex
    • Lightning Web Components (LWC)
    • Integration patterns (REST, SOAP, Platform Events)
    • Salesforce DevOps tooling (e.g. Copado, SFDX, GitLab)
    • Source‑driven and package‑based development
    • Code scanning and quality tools (e.g. PMD, CodeScan)
    • Salesforce security, sharing models, and role hierarchies

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working in large enterprise or matrixed global environments.
  • Marketing Cloud architecture knowledge (Journeys, Contact Builder, integrations).
  • Advanced Field Service configuration (scheduling policies, optimisation).
  • Experience Cloud authentication models (e.g. Okta).
  • Exposure to enterprise integration platforms (MuleSoft preferred).
