We are looking for an experienced and values‑led General Manager to lead our new Birkdale village. This is a key leadership role, responsible for creating a positive, safe and high‑performing environment for colleagues, residents, customers and families. You will provide clear direction across the village, ensuring excellent standards of care, strong operational performance, and a culture that reflects Belong's values every day. As General Manager, you will be responsible for the overall leadership of the village, working closely with operational, clinical, quality, HR, finance and support teams to ensure the service is safe, compliant, commercially sustainable and genuinely person‑centred. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who can bring energy, structure and confidence to a new service, while building a strong team and reputation from the beginning.
Salary: £72,224

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the overall operation and performance of the Birkdale village
- Build, develop and support a high-performing management team
- Ensure excellent standards of care, hospitality, customer experience and compliance
- Promote a positive, open and values-led culture across the village
- Oversee budgets, occupancy, staffing, quality, risk and service performance
- Work closely with the Registered Support Manager and clinical leadership team to ensure safe, person‑centred care
- Maintain strong relationships with residents, tenants, families, commissioners, regulators and community partners
- Ensure robust governance, safeguarding, risk management and regulatory compliance
- Lead recruitment, retention and colleague engagement across the village
- Champion Belong's household model and ensure it is delivered consistently in practice
- Support the successful launch, mobilisation and long-term development of the Birkdale service
Requirements:
We are looking for someone with 5+ years of strong senior leadership experience within health, social care, housing with care, or a regulated service environment. You will be confident leading operational teams, managing change, supporting quality improvement and building strong relationships with people at every level. A clinical background would be advantageous, particularly for the overall leadership mix within Birkdale, but it is not essential if you bring strong operational leadership and a clear understanding of regulated care services.
Essential Requirements:
- 5+ years of senior leadership experience within health, social care, housing with care, or a regulated service environment
- Strong understanding of CQC standards, safeguarding, quality assurance and care governance
- Experience managing budgets, staffing, occupancy, performance and service improvement
- Experience leading, motivating and developing managers and frontline teams
- Eligible to work in the UK
Desirable Requirements:
- Clinical background, nursing qualification, or experience leading clinical services
- Experience opening, mobilising or developing a new service
- Experience within dementia care, older people's care or household-style care models
- Experience working directly with CQC or other regulators, local authority commissioners, residents and families, and clinical leadership teams
