Belong Wigan provides high-specification accommodation and world-leading specialist dementia and nursing support across six extended family-sized households. The village also includes independent living apartments and outreach services available to the wider community, including award-winning home care and specialist day care services.

Our Chefs are responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen and catering services within the village. Most importantly, they produce food that is delicious, nutritious, and attractively presented. We believe good food and hospitality are essential for successful events and special occasions.

You should have a personality that strives for achievement and possess the skills to ensure food is presented fresh, appetising, and tasty every time. There are opportunities to develop the bistro from day one. The more ideas you contribute to improve our menu and help increase business, the more you can develop your role. Role Details

  • The pay for this role is £13.10 per hour
  • This role is for 20 hours per week
  • As part of our recruitment process, you will be required to complete an Enhanced DBS check.

Minimum Requirements

  • Demonstrates qualities aligned with Belong's vision and values.
  • Good communication skills for engaging with diverse individuals.
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills for stock control and procedure adherence.
  • Ability to prioritise work and ensure tasks are completed to standard and on time.
  • Calmness under pressure and ability to maintain a relaxed atmosphere in the kitchen and bistro.
  • Good customer care skills.
  • Basic IT skills for processing orders.
  • Ability to handle loads and operate commercial catering equipment.
  • Experience catering for large numbers (50+).
  • Understanding of dietary needs of older people or those with impairments.
  • Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Knowledge of H&S Regulations, COSHH, and HACCP.
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Professional Cooking.
  • Reliability to fulfil contracted hours, including days and weekends.
