We are seeking a motivated and capable Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team. This role is ideal for a finance professional looking to take the next step in their career with an organisation that values integrity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager, you will play a key role in the production of monthly management accounts, financial reporting, budgeting, and maintaining robust financial controls. You will also lead a small team and contribute to the ongoing development of our financial systems and reporting capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

· Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts and reports.

· Support budget preparation, implementation, and performance monitoring.

· Oversee the Fixed Asset Register and capitalisation processes.

· Supervise and maintain the accounting and order processing system.

· Line-manage accounts staff, supporting recruitment, development, and performance.

· Ensure compliance with statutory returns and regulatory requirements.

· Proactively identify and implement improvements in financial reporting.

· Provide continuity and support in the absence of the FP&A Manager.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

· AAT qualified (or equivalent) with at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role.

· Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.

· Demonstrated experience in managing and developing finance staff.

· Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines.

· A collaborative, proactive approach to work and problem-solving.

Desirable:

· Part-qualified accountant (e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ACA).

· Experience in the health or social care sector.

· Experience delivering training and financial guidance to non-finance stakeholders.
