Overview

Our educational mission is to offer a provision tailored for each of our students, to develop their capacity to participate in life beyond school and to enable them to achieve meaningful qualifications that will equip them to become independent adults, valued members of their community and contributors to the local economy as part of its skilled workforce.

Background. Learning students often have a continual lived experience of complex additional needs and adverse childhood experiences, both within and outside of school. In this context we recognise that educational provisions are often the right place at the right time to deliver or facilitate the support that children and young people need as part of an integrated local authority offer.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a wider team to support students to engage with school‑based education by identifying barriers to learning, implementing bespoke strategies and delivering a bespoke curriculum.

  • Implement positive intervention strategies and deliver one‑to‑one or small‑group learning experiences that address individual educational needs with flexibility and opportunities for learning outside the classroom.

  • Plan, deliver and monitor a range of activities in various settings to support students in returning to school‑based education and gaining skills and independence.

  • Monitor progress and contribute to achieving targets set on the Education and Health Care Plan system (EHCPS).

  • Promote safeguarding and the welfare of all students, ensuring strict adherence to safeguarding policies and procedures.

  • Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to the improvement of practice across the learning team.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children, preferably with additional needs.

  • Passion for supporting students to achieve outcomes.

  • Teaching Assistant qualification preferred, but not essential; training support will be given.

  • Degree of flexibility to adapt to student needs, learning environment and commitment to EHCPS targets.

  • Experience working in a SEMH setting desirable.

Professional and Safeguarding Requirements

All posts require an enhanced DBS disclosure; this position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Any offer of employment is subject to two satisfactory professional references, medical clearance, evidence of eligibility to work in the United Kingdom and proof of qualifications. All checks must have been completed before the start of employment. It is an offence to apply for the role if the applicant is banned from regulated activity relevant to children. We may carry out online searches for shortlisted candidates to identify any incidents or issues that may need to be explored at interview.

Salary

Salary quoted is actual salary for term‑time only hours, 8:45–4:15 Monday to Friday.
