Background

Belong Learning students often have a continual lived experience of complex additional needs and adverse childhood experiences, in and outside of school, at home and in the community. In this context, we recognise that Education Provisions, are often the right place at the right time to deliver and/or facilitate the support that children and young people need, as part of an integrated Local Authority offer.

Belong Learning facilitates learning environments in a range of settings, such as community-based locations, specialised provisions, and students' homes, as well as at school. In all those, we utilise high levels of scaffolding and support, both academic and developmental. We endeavour to provide our students with a broad and rich curriculum that is distinct from mainstream education not by what we teach, but by how we deliver it. Students' curriculum is crafted to match their interests, needs and aspirations and provide them with the accreditations and skills to enable them to thrive at school and be prepared for life beyond it.

Our practice is grounded in an evidence based, multi-disciplinary approach that creates a holistic offer. We operate inclusive school communities that draw on Restorative practices and Trauma Informed Approaches to understand and teach behaviour. They are emotionally available adults, that are attentive and flexible to meet the students' needs both, those inherent and those affected by their immediate difficulties in and out of school.

About you

The successful candidate will have QTS, either Primary or Secondary.

We require a degree of flexibility to adapt to the needs of our students, the learning environment, and a commitment to meeting targets set on EHCPS.

Experience of working in an SEMH setting would be desirable.

About the role

All students study core subjects at KS3 and KS4. Students at KS4 can undertake both GCSE level qualifications as well as Functional Skills.

The role will be based across our two sites in Gloucester and Slimbridge and requires a teacher who is an excellent classroom practitioner, deeply committed to improving student outcomes and passionate about teaching and learning.

Due to the nature of work in schools and contact with pupils, all posts will require an enhanced DBS Disclosure and this position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. Any offer of employment is subject to two satisfactory professional references, medical clearance, an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check (DBS), evidence of eligibility to work in the UK and proof of qualifications. All of the above checks must have been completed before the start of employment.
