hands-on Design Engineer
who likes seeing your designs become something real? This could be a great opportunity to join an established engineering and fabrication business where youll work closely with the workshop, site and project teams
taking projects from initial concept through to manufacture and installation. The role
Youll be involved in a varied mix of: Designing
pipework, steelwork and fabricated components
Producing 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models
Developing pipework layouts, routing and fabrication designs
Carrying out site surveys and taking measurements
Working with clients to understand their requirements
Working closely with the workshop to make sure designs are practical to manufacture
Supporting projects through fabrication and installation, making design changes where needed
Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors when required
Its primarily office-based, but youll regularly be out in the workshop and occasionally visit client sites and suppliers.
What we're looking for
Were looking for someone with a background in
mechanical design, pipework or steel fabrication , who understands that a good design needs to work in the real world
not just look good on a screen. Youll ideally have: Experience in mechanical, pipework or fabrication design
Good 2D and 3D CAD experience
Experience with
SolidWorks, AutoCAD Plant 3D or similar
A good understanding of fabrication, welding and/or industrial pipework
Experience with site surveys would be advantageous
The ability to turn requirements into practical, manufacturable designs
A hands-on, problem-solving approach
You don't necessarily need to tick every box.
