Flooring Designer Stowmarket own transport required Full Time, Office Based, up to Β£30,000 pa A great opportunity to develop your technical design career Were working with an established construction materials business in Stowmarket that is looking for a Flooring Designer to join its technical team. This is a varied role combining CAD, technical drawing interpretation and project-based design. Youll be working from information provided by architects and engineers to produce accurate designs and take-offs for flooring and structural projects. The role would suit an experienced designer, but could also be a great opportunity for a recent graduate or junior designer with some relevant CAD or construction experience who is looking for the right environment to develop. What you'll be doing Working closely with the Design, Estimating, Sales, Production and Projects teams, your responsibilities will include: Using CAD to produce accurate flooring designs and drawings. Interpreting architectural and engineering drawings, specifications and project information. Producing accurate take-offs, including calculating beam lengths and quantities. Reviewing drawings and specifications to ensure designs meet the required standards. Working to project deadlines and managing your workload effectively. Updating project records, drawings, estimates and revisions throughout the project lifecycle. Liaising with internal teams to resolve design queries and ensure projects progress smoothly. Checking your own work carefully to ensure accuracy before information is issued. Supporting the wider technical and project teams where required. About you Were looking for someone who enjoys working with technical information and has a good eye for detail. Youll ideally have: Experience producing technical designs or drawings using CAD. The ability to interpret architectural or engineering drawings. Good numerical and analytical skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. The ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple projects. Good communication skills and the confidence to work with different teams. An interest in construction, engineering or building products. You don't necessarily need years of experience. A recent graduate with a relevant degree and some exposure to CAD, technical drawings or construction design could be a good fit, provided you have the right attitude and willingness to learn. Training and development will be provided, giving you the opportunity to build your technical knowledge and develop your career within an established construction materials business. The opportunity You'll be working on projects for customers including housebuilders and other construction-sector clients , gaining exposure to the full process from interpreting the initial drawings through to producing the information required for estimating, production and project delivery.
