Job Description
The business targets special opportunities in asset heavy, non-traditional and/or non-core assets. The team provides capital solutions to small and mid-cap entities and investors, in response to those stakeholders facing limited access to capital from banks and other traditional sources of funding.
The role is to sit in a senior level position, responsible for managing the relationship with all borrowers and stakeholders where restructuring capabilities are required. Due to the firm’s more opportunistic focus from a risk perspective, it is common that borrowers may face challenges, breach covenants or fall significantly short of the agreed debt schedule.
As such, there is a requirement for a senior individual with pre-existing experience in the real estate restructuring space. This person need not be sitting in a real estate lender now, however, this would be of course advantageous.
The successful candidate may be someone in an investment bank, advisory businesses providing services to distressed RE investors, an institutional manager or somewhere comparable. A combination of any of the above would also suit.
The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of working successfully through difficult scenarios with borrowers, showcasing the commercial skills to manage that relationship, but also the technical skills to achieve a positive financial result for the lender they’re working for, or advising.
Experience in construction financing would be viewed extremely favourably.
