Salary: £26,000 – £29,000 per annum

Hours: 37 hours per week

Our client is recruiting for a Domestic Abuse Refuge Worker to provide high-quality support to women and families within refuge accommodation in Winchester. This role is centred on empowering survivors of domestic abuse to improve safety, regain independence, and access appropriate services and support.

Main Purpose of the Role

  • Provide trauma-informed support, advocacy, and safety planning to women affected by domestic abuse
  • Support clients to identify risks, reduce harm, and achieve personal goals
  • Work in partnership with housing providers, safeguarding teams, and external agencies
  • Promote independence, wellbeing, and recovery

Responsibilities

  • Undertake comprehensive risk and needs assessments
  • Develop and review individual support and safety plans
  • Support women with access to housing, benefits, healthcare, and legal services
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case records
  • Participate in safeguarding and multi-agency meetings
  • Provide emotional support and crisis intervention where required

Requirements

  • Experience working with vulnerable women or within domestic abuse services
  • Understanding of trauma-informed and person-centred approaches
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and risk management procedures
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
