Deputy Manager – Children's Residential Home (5-Bed) – Stockport

Salary: £38,000–£42,000

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, a mix of shift-based care work and administrative/office days

We are recruiting a Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in leading a 5-bed children's residential home in the Stockport area, working with young people with EBD/SEMH needs. This role combines hands-on shift work with administrative responsibilities, offering a varied week and genuine progression towards a Registered Manager position.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Registered Manager with the day-to-day operational running of the home
  • Deputising in the Registered Manager's absence, including out-of-hours on-call cover where required
  • Supervising and mentoring care staff, supporting their development and performance
  • Contributing to care planning, risk assessments, and Ofsted compliance
  • Balancing direct shift work with young people alongside office-based administrative duties
  • Supporting recruitment, rota management, and staff training

What we’re looking for:

  • A minimum of a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, with willingness to work towards Level 5
  • Experience working within children’s residential care, ideally in a senior or team leader capacity
  • Good understanding of safeguarding, SEMH/EBD needs, and relevant regulatory frameworks
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Full UK driving licence (desirable)
