Belmont Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Assistant Director of Adult Social Care on behalf of Shropshire Council. This is an exciting interim leadership opportunity for a highly experienced Adult Social Care professional to provide both strategic and operational leadership across Adult Social Care services. You will play a key role in driving service improvement, ensuring statutory compliance, supporting transformation programmes, and delivering high-quality outcomes for residents across Shropshire.
Working as part of the senior leadership team, you will lead operational services, manage performance and risk, work closely with partners across health and social care, and support the council in responding to ongoing demand and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic and operational leadership across Adult Social Care services.
- Lead the delivery of high-quality, person-centred services that promote independence and wellbeing.

- Significant senior leadership experience within Adult Social Care.
- Strong understanding of Adult Social Care legislation, policy, and statutory responsibilities.
- Experience leading large operational services within a Local Authority or comparable public sector environment.
- Proven track record of delivering service transformation, improvement, and change programmes.
- Experience managing substantial budgets, performance frameworks, and risk management processes.
- Strong partnership working experience with health, housing, voluntary sector, and community organisations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to provide strategic advice to senior leaders, elected members, and partnership boards.
- Demonstrable commitment to safeguarding, strengths-based practice, and improving outcomes for adults and carers.
- Relevant professional qualification and leadership credentials.
- Previous experience at Assistant Director, Deputy Director, Head of Service, or Director level within Adult Social Care.
- Experience supporting CQC readiness, inspections, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience working within integrated health and social care systems.
- Political awareness and experience working within a Local Government environment.
