Haringey Council is offering an initial temporary contract of 3-6 months, with a view to extension or permanent appointment, for a rate negotiable based on experience. Position: Executive Head of Childcare Services – location N15 6NU.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the day‑to‑day management of childcare provision within three local‑authority maintained nurseries.
- Lead the development of the ethos, policies and practices of the centre to ensure high‑quality early education, childcare and integrated community provision.
- Jointly responsible with the Executive Head of Children Centre Services for budget management, including preparation, monitoring and review of revenue, capital budgets and external funding streams in accordance with Haringey Standards of Financial Management.
- Supervise, manage performance and monitor childcare staff, carrying out annual and mid‑/end‑of‑year performance appraisals in line with Haringey policies and procedures.
- Lead the Ofsted inspection of the childcare and early education provision, ensuring quality and standards are established and constantly monitored.
- Oversee the premises, environment and agreements regarding the use of the centre by other agencies and groups.
Qualifications
- Recognised Education/Childcare (Early Years) qualification.
- Management experience and understanding of integrated childcare and education service within the public sector.
- Experience in financial planning and budget management, with effective application and compliance with financial procedures.
- Experience and understanding of Ofsted inspections.
