Good Afternoon, I am currently representing Lewisham Council, who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3-6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience.

The right candidate will:

  • Act as an authorised officer, taking action on complaints and reported infringements of planning law and regulations on complicated and sensitive cases.
  • Ensure relevant statutory obligations, Council and Directorate policies are effectively implemented.
  • Assist Planning Officers in resolving planning applications and enforcement matters.
  • Act as the Council's expert witness in Court prosecution cases, injunctions, public inquiries, and High Court appeals as required.
  • Investigate and determine the appropriate course of action on reported infringements of planning law and regulations.
  • Investigate history of sites and buildings. Refer to files and the electoral roll. Make site visits, refer to plans and check measurements.
  • Advise on infringements taking place on site. Ensure that the infringements cease or advise on procedure for obtaining planning permission.
  • Investigate and interview people under caution using police and criminal evidence (PACE).
  • Negotiate with complainants and persons in breach of planning law.
