Overview
Belmont Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced Senior Finance Technician to join Nottingham City Council\’s Strategic Finance team on an initial 3 month temporary contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with strong analytical skills and local government finance knowledge to provide high-quality financial support across a large and complex organisation.
Responsibilities
- Support managers and business partners with accurate financial analysis and advice to inform decision-making
- Assist with the completion of statutory and non-statutory returns, including grant claims
- Provide monitoring, forecasting, and financial reporting to support robust budget management
- Identify risks, corrective actions, and opportunities for service improvements
- Contribute to the development of business plans and ensure compliance with governance, risk management, and financial reporting standards
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors and partner organisations
Requirements
- Qualified member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) or equivalent
- Strong numeracy, literacy, and IT skills with the ability to produce clear financial information
- Experience in financial analysis, option appraisal, and supporting budget holders
- Knowledge of local government finance principles and practices
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships
- Ability to work on your own initiative and meet tight deadlines
Location – Loxley House, Nottingham (Hybrid 1-2 days on site).
