Overview

Prison Nurse – Agency Contract. Location: Liverpool. Rate: £30-£35 per hour (depending on shift type). Contract: 6 months (with potential to extend). Hours: Full-time or part-time considered (Early, Late, Long Day, and Night shifts available).

We’re currently recruiting experienced Registered Nurses (RGN/RMN) for agency work within a secure prison environment. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide essential care to individuals in custody, contributing to both their health and wider rehabilitation.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering day-to-day nursing care to a diverse inmate population
  • Supporting individuals with physical health needs, substance misuse issues, and mental health conditions
  • Administering medication and treatments in line with clinical protocols
  • Working closely with prison officers and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective care
  • Responding to medical emergencies within the prison setting

Requirements

  • Valid NMC registration (RGN, RMN or dual-qualified)
  • Previous experience in a secure, forensic, or custodial environment (preferred but not essential)
  • Current prison clearance (CTC or enhanced DBS with prison vetting) is desirable
  • Strong clinical judgement and the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Willingness to work flexibly across a variety of shifts
