Belmont Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced SEND Case Officer to work with our client on a temporary basis. This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Overview: The SEND Case Officer will be responsible for managing a caseload of children and young people throughout the Education, Health and Care Plan process, ensuring statutory duties are met in line with the SEND code of practice. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with families, education providers, and partner agencies to secure positive outcomes for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
Main Duties:
- Manage an allocated caseload of children and young people referred for SEND assessment and review
- Coordinate and oversee statutory Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments
- Manage cases through the EHCP process, ensuring compliance with statutory timescales
- Monitor and review existing Education, Health and Care Plans, including annual reviews
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records and data management systems
- Produce clear, detailed, and high-quality reports and correspondence
- Liaise effectively with families, schools, health professionals, social care teams, and other partner agencies
- Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings, representing the SEND Assessment and Review Team
- Provide advice and guidance to families and professionals regarding SEND processes and statutory requirements
Essential Criteria:
- Enhanced DBS clearance
- Previous experience working as a SEND Case Officer or within a SEND statutory assessment environment
- Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant SEND legislation
- Experience managing Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments and EHCP processes
- Excellent report writing and written communication skills
- Strong organisational skills with experience managing a varied caseload
- Experience of working collaboratively within a multi-agency environment
- Confident in handling constructive challenge whilst maintaining positive professional relationships
- Experience of accurate record keeping and data management
- Preparing for Adulthood experience is desirable
