We're recruiting for experienced Senior CRSW's to join a children's residential home in Greater Manchester, supporting young people with EBD/SEMH needs within a therapeutic, trauma-informed environment. This is a senior role within the staff team, combining hands-on care and support with a lead position on shift – mentoring junior staff and helping ensure consistently high standards of care across the home.
You'll provide direct, high-quality care to children and young people, promoting safety, stability, and positive outcomes day to day. On shift, you'll take the lead, offering guidance and direction to Support Workers and less experienced colleagues, while helping implement individual care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies.
You'll be expected to model best practice in trauma-informed, person-centred care, supporting young people to build independence, resilience, and positive relationships, and responding confidently to challenging behaviour using recognised de-escalation and physical intervention techniques such as Team Teach, MAPA, or PACE.
Alongside the care itself, you'll keep accurate, timely records – daily logs, incident reports, and care plan updates – and liaise regularly with external professionals including social workers, education providers, and health services. Safeguarding runs through everything, and you'll play an active role in ensuring the home's practice meets Ofsted regulations and SCCIF standards.
As a senior figure within the team, you'll also act as a positive role model, supporting the professional development of junior staff.
To be considered, you'll need a Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (or NVQ Level 3 equivalent), along with solid experience working in children's residential care, ideally already at Senior or Team Leader level. A strong understanding of safeguarding, LAC processes, and Ofsted requirements is essential, as is experience leading or managing shifts and supporting junior colleagues. You'll need to be confident managing challenging behaviour and de-escalating high-risk situations, with strong communication, organisational, and record-keeping skills to match. A full UK driving licence is desirable depending on the home's requirements, and you'll need an enhanced DBS on the update service, or be willing to apply for one.
This is a shift-based role within a residential children's home supporting EBD/SEMH young people, including sleep-ins or waking nights where applicable, working as part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team with a strong safeguarding culture throughout.
