An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced senior Adult Social Care professional to join Redbridge Council as a PSW Safeguarding Head of Service. This is a key leadership role providing strategic oversight, professional leadership, and safeguarding expertise across Adult Social Care services. We are looking for a strong leader with extensive safeguarding experience who can support frontline practitioners, lead on complex risk management, and drive high-quality, person-centred practice across the service.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead on safeguarding practice, governance, quality assurance, and professional standards
- Deliver the Principal Social Worker remit across Adult Social Care
- Provide leadership and supervision support to frontline teams
- Drive improvement in practice, decision-making, and safeguarding outcomes
- Lead on Safeguarding Adults Reviews (SARs), Community MARAC, Self-Neglect & Hoarding protocols
- Represent the Council at regional and national safeguarding forums and boards
- Promote reflective supervision, workforce development, and practice improvement
- Ensure compliance with statutory legislation, Care Act duties, and safeguarding frameworks
Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker
- Social Work England registration
- Extensive Adult Safeguarding experience within Local Authority settings
- Previous management or strategic leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, governance, and quality assurance frameworks
- Experience leading multi-agency partnerships and safeguarding initiatives
