Job Details:
- The role will provide professional support, advice and supervision to frontline practitioners.
- This will involve responsibility for providing leadership in the management of risk in complex safeguarding situations.
- This will ensure that all cases are managed in line with the council's statutory duties and that a quality service is delivered to adults and their families.
- To assess the quality and effectiveness of local authority planning and support for adults and Carers.
- To provide system leadership to ensure the local authority discharges its statutory adult social care and carers' responsibilities lawfully and effectively, embedding the wellbeing principle across all care and support functions, to ensure that adults and carers experience safe, timely, person‑centred support that delivers improved outcomes.
- To provide oversight and strategic vision across adult social care in leading the Council's governance, assurance, and partnership arrangements to safeguard adults with care and support needs who are at risk of abuse or harm, and cascade professional development and training opportunities across the workforce.
- Delivering the Principal Social Worker remit through professional leadership, practice development, and a robust quality assurance framework that drives learning, strengthens supervision and decision‑making, and improves outcomes for residents and carers.
- To ensure Social Work practice is in line with statutory legal frameworks, policies and guidance, to meet legislative and organisational standards.
- Provide support and guidance to newly qualified, experienced and student social workers, collaborating with Workforce Development colleagues to strengthen multi‑agency safeguarding training, practice learning and coaching across Redbridge Council's Adult Social Care workforce.
- To act as the senior professional lead for social work within the Senior Management Team, ensuring the voice and experience of frontline practitioners informs decision‑making with managers and partners at all levels.
- Represent Redbridge Council on all boards relating to Quality Assurance and PSW matters, chairing meetings locally as requested, representing Redbridge Council at regional and national peer support networks and lead on Social Work practice issues.
- Represent the Social Care workforce, highlighting emerging themes, issues and challenges relating to practice at leadership meetings and other senior meetings as appropriate.
- To provide support to the functions of the Redbridge Safeguarding Adults Board (RSAB) and Strategic Lead for Safeguarding and Professional Practice in the following areas (but not exhaustive to): Self‑Neglect and Hoarding Protocols planning and review Redbridge 'One Panel' in respect of Safeguarding Adult Reviews (SAR) Community MARAC.
