Belmont Recruitment are currently seeking experienced Waste Operatives to work with an organisation based in the Tyne and Wear area. These are full-time roles working 40 hours per week. Shift patterns are 7am-3pm or 12pm-8pm, Monday to Friday. Temp to perm opportunities are available for the right candidate.
Overview: The role involves safely carrying out operations under prescribed working procedures to effectively collect, process, sort and manage customer waste.
Main Duties:
- Ensure routine collection and disposal of waste from around site
- Safe use of forklift, pallet rider, van and other mobile plant
- Maintain good housekeeping and safe storage of all waste
- Assist in the segregation, packaging and labelling of waste
- Assist in the removal from site of all waste materials to reduce stock build up
- Monitor safety of operations and ensure team compliance with operating instructions
- Complete daily vehicle and equipment check sheets as required
- Liaise routinely with manager or supervisor on operational and safety aspects of work
Essential Criteria:
- Valid forklift licence
- Current driving licence
- Previous experience with waste management preferred
- Ability to work on own and use initiative
