This is a pivotal role that blends quality assurance, multi-agency collaboration, and statutory safeguarding to deliver meaningful, lasting outcomes for young people.
About the Role
As the Independent Reviewing Officer, you will:
- Lead and chair statutory reviews for children and young people in care, ensuring timely, high-quality planning.
- Ensure the voice of the child is central in all decisions, plans, and reviews.
- Coordinate multi-agency child protection conferences in your role as Child Protection Chair.
- Provide robust quality assurance, ensuring care and protection plans meet legal, safeguarding, and best-practice standards.
- Work closely with social workers, families, and professionals to support and challenge plans that affect vulnerable children.
- Monitor and track outcomes, ensuring accountability and continuous improvement in service delivery.

What We\\\’re Looking For
- A qualified social worker (Social Work England registered or equivalent).
- Proven experience in child protection and looked after children reviews.
- Strong understanding of current legislation, statutory guidance, and safeguarding frameworks.
- Confident, independent decision-maker with excellent communication and chairing skills.
- Experience working within multi-agency environments.
