Belmont Recruitment are currently looking for a Senior Finance Officer to join Kirklees Council on an initial 3 month temporary contract. This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities- Provide day-to-day financial support to a mixed portfolio of services
- Support and specialise in key finance functions such as financial planning, corporate accounting or capital accounting
- Lead on budget monitoring, forecasting and financial reporting
- Attend and contribute to meetings with Budget Holders and Senior Managers, presenting financial information and advice
- Support the delivery of capital accounting activities within a public sector environment
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, policies and procedures
- Line manage, supervise and support Finance Officers and Assistant Finance Officers
- Contribute to service improvements and the development of effective financial processes
- Significant experience working within a public sector finance environment
- Local Authority experience is preferred, however candidates from other public sector backgrounds will be considered
- Proven experience of:
- Budget monitoring and financial forecasting
- Presenting financial information to Budget Holders and Senior Managers
- Supervising and supporting junior finance staff
- Capital accounting within the public sector
