Good Afternoon, I am currently representing Enfield Council, who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3-6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience. This role will be based at: 1 day office based EN1 3ES.

The right candidate will:

  • Assist single customers who approach the service for housing assistance by completing a thorough homelessness assessment under relevant legislation and support the customer into a suitable housing pathway.
  • Effectively work with an array of prevention tools e.g. Homefinder Scheme, Hardship Payments and court representation to prevent homelessness, wherever possible, or to facilitate a move into suitable, affordable accommodation.
  • Accurately and robustly process housing and homelessness approaches within agreed timescales, adhering to relevant policies, procedures, legislation case law and guidance.
  • Arrange and undertake home visits where appropriate to confirm homelessness, to inspect housing standards/conditions or to verify a household’s circumstances.
  • Liaise with the Market Management Team to secure accommodation where a housing duty is owed. Recommend access for households to the council's rent deposit scheme (Homefinders). Ensure the prompt cancellation of temporary accommodation when there is no longer a duty.

We require the following:

  • Experience of front line contact with the public and communicating complex information in a clear and tactful manner while ensuring high levels of customer service.
  • Experience of carrying out robust enquiries and competently deciding homelessness applications in accordance with Part VII Housing Act 1996 as amended.
  • Demonstrable experience of working with clients with complex needs and experience of working with clients and their Probation officers and clients who have been released from prison.
