Belmont Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Highways Operative to join a busy highways operations team on a temporary basis. This is a full-time role working 45 hours per week.

Overview: This role will involve carrying out a range of highway maintenance and construction duties across various projects, supporting the delivery of essential footway and carriageway improvement works. The successful candidate will undertake skilled roadworking duties, ensuring all works are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Main Duties:

  • Carry out the laying of kerbs and tactile paving materials
  • Install drainage pipes, pots, chambers, and ducts within footways
  • Lay bituminous materials by hand on both footways and carriageways
  • Operate a range of small tools and mechanical equipment including ride-on rollers, floor saws, Stihl saws, petrol breakers, and vibrating plate compactors
  • Undertake general highway construction and maintenance duties
  • Work in line with all health and safety procedures and site regulations

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous experience working as a Highways Operative or Skilled Roadworker
  • Experience carrying out kerbing, drainage, and surfacing works
  • Ability to safely operate small plant and construction equipment
  • Good understanding of highway maintenance and construction practices
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Full UK driving licence
