Good Afternoon, I am currently representing Southwark Council, who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3-6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience.

We are looking for a Facilities Officer (Multiskilled). The right candidate will:

  • Be responsible for managing the Facilities Management (FM) reactive maintenance programme across the 8 Leisure centres. Promoting a collaborative approach in the development of robust relationships with Operational managers, building managers and end users to ensure compliance with statutory and mandatory legislation.
  • Carry out to the highest standard all aspects of repair/renewal work to items in various trades such as ground works, carpentry, plumbing, glazing and finishing trades (painting & decorating, plastering/tilling). Undertake a broad range of multi-skilled repair activities to provide a comprehensive repair service.
  • Be responsible for ensuring the Leisure centre roof areas are well maintained. This includes identifying and repairing the source of leaks, removing dirt and debris from guttering, replacing shingles and improving insulation to prevent heat loss.
  • Undertake day to day plumbing and electrical works in a safe manner to minimize service disruptions and ensure better customer experience, such as installing new taps, sinks and toilets, and repairing leaks.
  • Undertake general landscaping duties such as mowing lawns, trimming hedges, bushes and trees, weeding, watering flower beds and repairing border walls and fences to ensure these spaces remain safe, usable and inviting to the public.

We require the following:

  • Demonstrable experience of working in the building and trades industry carrying out repairs and maintenance to void and tenanted properties.
  • Experience of working independently making decisions required for the completion of jobs.
  • City And Guilds plumbing NVQ 2 or equivalent, or City and Guild Carpentry NVQ 3 or equivalent.
