Good Afternoon, I am currently representing Barnet Council who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience We are looking for a Environmental Health & Safety Manager this role will be based at: N11 1HJ, 2 to 3 days per week in the office The right candidate will: * Accountable for Environment Directorate health and safety performance and assurance, reporting directly to the Executive Director of Environment on compliance, risk and improvement activity. * Act as the organisation's lead competent person for Environment, Health and Safety matters, providing authoritative advice to senior management and directors. * Provide strategic oversight of EHS risks associated with operational service delivery and major projects. * Lead the organisation's response to regulatory inspections, enforcement notices, prosecutions and environmental incidents. * Hold managers within the directorate accountable for their responsibilities for health and safety duties, providing guidance and practical solutions to ensure legal compliance and best practice in line with Barnet�s management system. * Authority to escalate significant unmanaged risks directly to the Executive Director of Environment where statutory compliance cannot be demonstrated. * Maintain and develop accredited management systems, such as ISO 14001, and lead external accreditation audits. * Act as key subject matter expert for implementation of a health and safety information management system. * Provide technical health and safety expertise into contract management meetings for externally delivered services within Environment. * Provide health and safety input into key Environment transformation projects.
