An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Manager to join our team at a residential children’s home in Preston. You will be responsible for supporting the Registered Manager in overseeing the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring the highest standards of care for children and young people with complex needs, including Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH). This is a rewarding role where you’ll contribute to improving outcomes and independence for vulnerable young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager in the overall running of the home, ensuring compliance with Ofsted regulations and the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015.
  • Lead and motivate a team of Residential Support Workers to deliver trauma-informed, person-centred care.
  • Manage the home in the absence of the Registered Manager.
  • Training & Development:
  • Mentor and support staff development and training needs.
  • Assist in recruitment, induction, and performance management of staff.
  • Partnership Working:
    • Build effective relationships with families, social workers, health professionals, and external agencies.
    • Participate in care reviews and planning meetings.

    Essential Criteria:

    • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
    • Minimum of 1 year’s experience in a residential childcare setting, working with children with EBD, ASD, or SEMH.
    • Strong knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations, Ofsted Quality Standards, and safeguarding procedures.
    • Proven leadership and team management abilities.
    • Excellent communication, organisational, and decision-making skills.

    Desirable Criteria:

    • Experience as a Deputy Manager or Manager in a children’s home.
    • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and positive behaviour support.

    What We Offer:

    • Competitive Salary:
    • £42,000 (Over 2 years’ experience in a DM/Manager role)
    • £40,000 (Less than 2 years’ experience in a DM role)
    • £35,000 (Stepping up from a senior role to Deputy Manager)
  • Sleep-in Payments: £60 per night
  • Outstanding Rating: Bonus to be confirmed.
  • Good Rating: Bonus to be confirmed.
