Belmont Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Gardener to work with a Local Authority on a temporary basis. This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out a range of horticultural and grounds maintenance duties within a cemetery environment. The role will involve maintaining high standards of presentation across landscaped areas, ensuring the grounds remain safe, tidy, and respectful for visitors.

Main Duties:

  • Carry out grass cutting, strimming, edging, and general grounds maintenance
  • Maintain flower beds, shrubs, hedges, and planted areas
  • Undertake weeding, pruning, planting, and seasonal horticultural work
  • Assist with the upkeep and presentation of memorial gardens and cemetery grounds
  • Remove litter, leaves, and other debris from pathways and public areas
  • Operate and maintain gardening and grounds maintenance equipment safely
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety procedures
  • Support the wider grounds maintenance team with additional duties as required

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous experience in gardening, horticulture, or grounds maintenance
  • Experience of using grass cutting, strimming, and other horticultural equipment
  • Knowledge of safe working practices within an outdoor environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good physical fitness and ability to undertake manual outdoor work in all weather conditions
  • Full UK driving licence
