Belmont Recruitment are currently looking for an Education Officer to join Cheshire East Council on an initial 3 month temporary contract.

This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on the Local Authority's statutory duties relating to Elective Home Education (EHE).
  • Monitor the education and wellbeing of children who are educated other than at school and take appropriate action where concerns are identified.
  • Work with schools and advise them on their responsibilities and the correct procedures for EHE referrals.
  • Work directly with parents, children, schools and other agencies, providing advice, support and signposting where appropriate.
  • Establish and maintain accurate records of children who are educated other than at school, using effective tracking and referral systems.
  • Use appropriate legal procedures, including School Attendance Orders, where parents do not satisfy the Local Authority that a child is receiving a suitable education.
  • Collect and analyse information and data relating to EHE and Romany Gypsy and Traveller families.
  • Arrange and participate in meetings with families, schools and partner organisations.

Requirements

  • Experience working with families and young people.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of safeguarding.
  • Experience working with partner agencies and professionals.
