The development, implementation and review of the policies, plans and procedures associated with the Civil Contingencies Act and other statutory regulations.
Working as part of the Emergency Management Team to ensure the wellbeing of residents and communities during periods of disruption, collaborating with the Local Resilience Forum to ensure a coordinated response.
Maintaining a strong Business Continuity Management system to protect critical services and collaborating with major event organisers to address safety requirements and residents' needs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- To deliver the work programmes specifically in relation to the requirements of the Civil Contingencies Act and other statutory regulations.
- To be responsible for leading specialist work streams. Rotation of work streams will be at the discretion of the Principal Emergency Management Officer.
- To prepare plans and procedures to help facilitate an integrated internal and external response to incidents.
- To assist in the preparation and the delivery of training programmes and exercises to help improve the council’s emergency preparedness.
- To liaise with all necessary officers within the Council, emergency services, voluntary agencies and all other relevant organisations to carry out the duties detailed above.
- To attend meetings, courses and exercises as and when required.
- To participate in the emergency on call system flexibly in line with the following on average schedule: one to two weekdays, and one weekend in four.
- To assist the Council to respond to incidents both during and out of office hours.
- To undertake occasional weekend and evening work when necessary.
- To assist with administrative/clerical tasks as deemed necessary by the Principal Emergency Management Officer.
