Belmont Recruitment are looking for an experienced Category Manager to join a leading waste management organisation. This role sits within the Procurement team and focuses on managing third-party subcontractors who provide waste haulage and disposal services across multiple waste streams. This is a temporary contract for 3 months with a view to extend onto a FTC.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and manage strategic category plans for haulage and waste disposal
- Lead competitive tendering processes and procure subcontracted waste services
- Negotiate rates and contractual terms across all waste streams
- Manage third-party subcontractor relationships to ensure performance, compliance and value
- Analyse market trends, cost drivers and risk factors to support decision-making
- Work closely with operational, commercial and procurement teams to align category strategies
- Ensure all activity supports wider Group Procurement initiatives and governance
- Drive continuous improvement, cost optimisation and supplier innovation
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in category management, procurement or commercial roles
- Strong background in waste management, haulage, transportation, or related sectors
- Experience managing third-party subcontractor relationships
- Excellent negotiation, analytical and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to lead tender processes and manage complex service contracts
- Understanding of hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams (desirable)
