Belmont Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Behaviour Change Practitioner for a temporary opportunity within the Middlesbrough area. This is a full‑time position working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Overview:
The successful candidate will work within a substance misuse service, delivering structured 1:1 and group psychological interventions to support behaviour change, emotional wellbeing and recovery.
Main Duties:
- Deliver structured 1:1 and group psychological interventions
- Use CBT-informed approaches, motivational interviewing, DBT skills and psychoeducation
- Assess low-level mental health and emotional needs
- Provide brief interventions to support behaviour change and recovery
- Develop positive and effective working relationships with service users
- Monitor progress and adapt interventions where appropriate
- Identify when individuals require more specialist support and elevate cases accordingly
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in line with service requirements
Essential Criteria:
- Proven experience delivering psychological or behaviour change interventions
- Experience working within substance misuse, mental health or a related service
- Knowledge and practical experience of motivational interviewing and CBT-informed approaches
- Experience assessing emotional and mental health needs and delivering brief interventions
- Strong communication, interpersonal and assessment skills
- Ability to deliver interventions on both a 1:1 and group basis
- Knowledge of safeguarding and appropriate referral pathways
