Location: Hampshire

Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday–Thursday 9:30am–5:30pm, Friday 9:30am–5pm)

Contract: Permanent, Full Time

On-call: Yes (rota-based)

Belmont Recruitment is working in partnership with a respected domestic abuse charity to recruit an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) to support children, young people and adults affected by domestic abuse, both in the community and within refuge settings. This is a trauma-informed outreach role focused on safeguarding, emotional recovery and breaking cycles of abuse. You will work directly with children, young people and their non-abusive parents, providing practical support, advocacy and safety planning, while working closely with statutory and voluntary partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and group-based support to children and young people who have experienced domestic abuse
  • Deliver safety planning, emotional support and advocacy within refuge and community settings
  • Support parents to strengthen the parent–child relationship and promote recovery
  • Work closely with schools to support attendance, transitions and emotional wellbeing
  • Deliver workshops and age-appropriate activities focused on healthy relationships, emotions and wellbeing
  • Liaise with Social Care, Police, Education, Health and voluntary agencies to ensure coordinated support
  • Maintain accurate, confidential case records and contribute to service monitoring and evaluation
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rota, providing out-of-hours crisis support and refuge admissions when required
About You:

You will have experience supporting children, young people and adults who are vulnerable or at risk, ideally within domestic abuse, safeguarding or family support services. You will be confident working independently, managing a caseload and building trusting relationships with families and professionals.

Essential Requirements
  • Experience working with children, young people and adults under stress or at risk
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and trauma-informed practice
  • Ability to deliver 1:1 and group interventions
  • Excellent communication and record-keeping skills
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car with business insurance
  • Willingness to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends and on-call duties

This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
