Belmont Recruitment are looking for Registered Nurses (RGNs or RMNs) with current prison clearance (CTC) to join the healthcare team at a busy prison in Durham. This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced nurses who thrive in fast‑paced, multi‑disciplinary environments and are passionate about delivering quality care within secure settings. You will be supporting the primary care team in delivering a wide range of clinical interventions, from minor injury and illness management to long‑term condition care, triage, medication rounds, and mental health support.
Key Responsibilities- Delivering high‑quality, evidence‑based nursing care to prisoners with varying physical and mental health needs
- Carrying out assessments, triage, and care planning in line with clinical guidelines
- Administering medications, managing wound care, and supporting health promotion activities
- Working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team, including GPs, mental health professionals, substance misuse teams, and prison officers
- Responding to medical emergencies within the prison estate
- Maintaining accurate and confidential clinical records
- Ensuring adherence to all safeguarding, security, and risk management protocols
- NMC Registered Nurse (RGN or RMN)
- Current prison clearance (CTC/NPPV) – essential
- Previous experience working in prison healthcare, police custody, or secure settings
- Competitive hourly rates: £25.00 – £32.00 DOE and shift pattern
