As a Legal Counsel, Commercial, you will work within the Corporate Legal team, providing effective commercial legal support to the wider business. The role supports key stakeholders from the various Corporate departments as well as to the Belmond business globally to advise on commercial issues and to negotiate and conclude commercial contracts.
Responsibilities
- To draft, review and negotiate a wide range of contracts with a focus on agreements for PR and Marketing, Operations, Sales and IT, including agreements with SaaS and Cloud service providers, other service supplier contracts, location filming agreements, events contracts, contracts with Belmond's distribution channels and sponsorship agreements, among others.
- To manage contract databases and files.
- To manage and oversee the DocuSign electronic signature software, including administration and training for departments.
- To provide training on and promote compliance with Belmond's contract policy, as well as suggesting and preparing updates to the policy and process when required.
- To keep Belmond's booking terms and conditions (available on Belmond.com) up to date.
- To prepare and update contract templates in order to maintain an up-to-date repository of contracts beneficial to key stakeholders and provide regular training to stakeholders across the business, including training on how to use contract templates and key legal issues that are relevant to their role within the business.
- To implement and improve processes, maintaining engagement with internal stakeholders and providing accurate and timely legal advice to support Belmond's business objectives.
- To manage Belmond's trademark portfolio, third-party trademark licences and provide support to the web development team on domain name issues.
- To keep the General Counsel informed about important issues.
- To take on other responsibilities and support other areas of the legal function as necessary.
- To monitor, assess and highlight specific legal risks to Belmond in relation to contracts and to keep the team updated.
- To effectively manage competing priorities and stakeholder expectations.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Use utilities and resources in a responsible manner to control wastage.
- Communicate relevant information to the department, your line manager and across departments, as appropriate.
- Comply with safe working practices, Health and Safety policy, and ensure accidents/defects are reported immediately.
- Attend learning and development courses and complete eLearning modules, as required.
