As a Senior CAM Programmer, you will be responsible for developing and optimising CNC machining strategies for complex precision-engineered components. Working closely with Production, Engineering, and Machine Shop teams, you will play a key role in ensuring efficient, high-quality manufacturing processes across a range of challenging projects. You will have the opportunity to work with advanced 5-axis machining technologies and aerospace-grade materials while supporting continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity, quality, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, develop, and optimise CAM programs using Siemens NX CAM software.
  • Lead programming activities for complex multi-axis CNC machining operations.
  • Define machining strategies for precision components manufactured from Titanium, Inconel, Aluminium, Stainless Steel, and other specialist materials.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) projects from concept through to production.
  • Collaborate with machinists and manufacturing engineers to improve cycle times and machining performance.
  • Validate programs using simulation and verification tools to ensure efficient and safe machining processes.
  • Select cutting tools, fixtures, and machining methods to maximise productivity and component quality.
  • Mentor and support junior programmers and manufacturing personnel.
  • Troubleshoot machining and programming challenges and implement effective solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure all processes meet quality, customer, and regulatory requirements.

What We Are Looking For

  • Extensive CAM programming experience within a precision engineering or advanced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong background in 5-axis CNC machining.
  • Advanced knowledge of Siemens NX CAM (NX10 or later).
  • Proven experience programming complex components for low-volume, high-precision manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of Fanuc-controlled CNC machinery.
  • Excellent knowledge of cutting tools, machining strategies, feeds and speeds, and material removal techniques.
  • Experience machining aerospace-grade materials including Titanium and Inconel.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and CAD models.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Experience within Motorsport, Aerospace, Defence, Medical, or Automotive sectors.
  • CAD modelling experience using Siemens NX.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Previous experience mentoring or leading technical teams.
