What You Will Be Doing
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Quality Inspector to join our precision engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a quality-focused professional to play a key role in ensuring that high-precision components and assemblies meet the exacting standards required by our customers. Working closely with Production, Engineering, and Management teams, you will be responsible for carrying out inspection activities throughout the manufacturing process, ensuring compliance with customer specifications, engineering drawings, and quality standards. You will contribute to maintaining our reputation for quality while supporting continuous improvement across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out first-off, in-process, and final inspection of precision-engineered components and assemblies.
- Interpret and inspect components against detailed engineering drawings, technical specifications, and customer requirements.
- Use a wide range of manual measuring equipment, including micrometers, verniers, height gauges, bore gauges, and other precision inspection tools.
- Perform dimensional and visual inspections to ensure components meet exacting quality standards and tight tolerances.
- Complete inspection reports, quality documentation, and manufacturing records accurately and efficiently.
- Identify non-conforming products and support root cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Work closely with production teams to resolve quality issues and support process improvements.
- Assist in maintaining quality systems and procedures in line with ISO 9001 requirements.
- Support customer and internal audits by ensuring inspection records and documentation are maintained to the highest standard.
- Ensure calibration records and measuring equipment are maintained and controlled appropriately.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain a safe, organised, and professional working environment in line with company health, safety, and quality standards.
What We Are Looking For
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Quality Inspector within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and GD&T.
- Experience using a wide range of manual inspection and measuring equipment.
- Excellent understanding of dimensional inspection techniques and quality control processes.
- Experience inspecting precision-machined components to tight tolerances.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest quality standards.
- Good problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and investigate quality issues.
- Strong organisational and documentation skills.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and proactive, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Strong commitment to health, safety, and maintaining high standards of housekeeping and workplace organisation.
Desirable
- Experience working within Motorsport, Automotive, Aerospace, or other high-precision manufacturing sectors.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems.
- Experience using CMM equipment and associated inspection software.
- Understanding of FAIRs, PPAPs, and customer quality requirements.
- Internal auditing experience or quality-related qualifications.
