There is an exciting opportunity to join Bellway, one of the UK’s largest house builders. Our Building Safety Division, located in Dartford, is looking to recruit a Technical Co-Ordinator. The Buidling Saftey dvision has been established to rectify possible fire safety issues in the historic Bellway Homes portfolio nationally.

The Role

This role will support the technical manager in the management and overseeing of technical matters across multiple building safety projects from conception to completion.

Candidates should note that this opportunity is not for a new house build division.

Principal accountabilities of the Technical Co-Ordinator role include:

  • Oversee all technical aspects across multiple building safety projects of varying complexity
  • Manage the technical process to secure accurate and comprehensive sets of information from the outset, including the tendering and appointment of project consultants
  • Management of technical fees budget
  • Ensuring planning & building regulations are obtained and conditions adhered to / discharged
  • Validating legal ownership of legacy buildings and obtaining necessary consents to carry out works
  • Managing and satisfying regulatory bodies such as Planning, Building Control, and the Fire Brigade where required to do so
  • Control and issue of design information and drawings working with principal contractors, principal designers and advisory consultant teams
  • Liaise with the Commercial department to ensure all relevant information is available to enable tenders & orders to be placed and technical budgets / cost to complete are accurate
  • Work with the site teams and principal contractors to provide support as necessary

Experience, Qualifications and Skills

Experience

  • Architectural / technical drawing experience
  • Experience and exposure to high and medium-rise construction
  • Knowledge of building regulations, Building Safety Act and current NHBC standards is desirable
  • Experience and knowledge of external wall and façade designs
  • Previous experience working as a coordinator within a technical function for a volume house builder is desirable
  • Experience and appreciation of fire safety guidance, regulation and standards in high-rise residential buildings

Qualifications and Training

  • Qualified to degree level or HNC/HND in a technical subject with relevant experience
  • CSCS card or equivalent
  • Current full UK driving licence

Skills and Aptitude

  • Understanding of building techniques, materials and regulations
  • Knowledge of current CDM regulations
  • Strong communication, listening, presentation skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to recognise problems and deal with them in a speedy and effective manner
  • Methodical, conscientious, organised and works to deliver high standards
  • Knowledge of Building Safety Act
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient IT skills along with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and outlook) and the ability to adapt to new systems.
