Our Northern Home Counties Division is looking to recruit a Technical Coordinator / Assistant Technical Coordinator to join the Division's Technical team.

The Role

The role of Technical Coordinator / Assistant Technical Coordinator is to support the Design Manager and wider Technical team in the coordination and management of technical matters across multiple residential development projects from conception through to completion.

The role may be appointed as Assistant Technical Coordinator or Technical Coordinator level depending on the successful candidate's experience, technical capability and ability to independently manage aspects of the technical coordination process.

  • Principal Accountabilities
  • Support and, where appropriate, oversee technical aspects across multiple projects of varying complexity.
  • Coordinate the design process to ensure accurate, coordinated and comprehensive information is available from the outset.
  • Support with the tendering, appointment and management of design consultants.
  • Review, coordinate and issue technical drawings, site information and design documentation.
  • Apply architectural knowledge to support drawing reviews, design coordination and the resolution of technical queries.
  • Support the procurement and management of utilities, services and warranties.
  • Support the preparation, monitoring and management of technical programmes, fee budgets and cost information.
  • Assist with, and where appropriate manage, the discharge of planning and building regulation conditions.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies including Planning, Building Control, warranty providers and Fire Authorities.
  • Validate conveyance plans, easements and associated technical/legal information.
  • Work closely with Commercial colleagues to ensure relevant orders are in place and budgets/cost‑to‑complete information is accurate.
  • Provide technical support to Site, Sales and other internal teams as required.
  • Build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, external consultants, utility providers and regulatory bodies.
  • Undertake any other duties reasonably required in line with the role and level of appointment.

Experience

  • A background in architecture, architectural technology or technical design is essential.
  • Architectural drawing experience is preferred, gained within an architectural practice, housebuilder, consultancy or similar technical environment.
  • Experience in residential development, housebuilding or construction is desirable.
  • Experience using Autocad or similar design/drawing software would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of building regulations and current NHBC standards is desirable depending on level of appointment.
  • Exposure to medium‑rise or more complex developments would be beneficial.
  • Previous experience coordinating consultants, drawings or technical information would be advantageous.

Qualifications & Training

  • Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Construction, Design, Engineering or another relevant technical discipline.
  • Candidates working towards a relevant technical or professional accreditation will also be considered.
  • Full UK driving licence is required.

Skills & Aptitude

  • Strong architectural and technical design understanding, with the ability to read, interpret and review drawings.
  • Good understanding of building techniques, materials, regulations and construction processes.
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Strong communication, listening, and presentation skills.
  • Methodical, organised and conscientious, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a wider technical team.
  • Confident liaising with internal departments, external consultants and regulatory bodies.
  • Able to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment and respond positively to changing priorities.
  • Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to adapt to new systems.
