There is an exciting opportunity to join Bellway, one of the UK’s largest house builders. Our Head Office is looking to recruit a Group Construction Training Manager to join the Group Construction team. This is a Field based role, with nationwide travel including regular time at Group Head Office in Newcastle upon Tyne.
The Role
The Construction Training Manager will lead the development and delivery of construction-related training across Bellway. This role ensures that construction staff are equipped with the skills and behaviours needed to build high-quality homes safely and efficiently. The postholder will work closely with Learning and Development team Future Talent team, divisional construction leaders, and external partners to embed a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
Working as part of the Group Construction Team, this role will collaborate with various departments to lead on virtual and face-to-face delivery, content creation, stakeholder engagement, to ensure our people are equipped to deliver high quality homes and excellent service.
Principal accountabilities of the role include:
- Develop and implement a national construction training strategy aligned to business objectives
- Design and deliver training programmes for site managers, apprentices, and trades informed by knowledge explorer insights
- Review and enhance construction induction with Group Construction Director, introducing a consistent group wide standard
- Identify future managers and create development programmes to support succession planning.
- Deliver virtual and in-person training workshops across all divisions to drive retention and behavioural change
- Collaborate with external training providers to ensure high-quality experiences
- Monitor training effectiveness through feedback, performance data and site visits
- Drive the delivery and uptake of construction related mandatory training provision e.g. NHBC, CSCS actively monitoring engagement and promoting its importance to ensure full participation and understanding across construction teams
- Support operational leaders in implementing on‑site learning and champion continuous professional development and career progression pathways
- Create and deliver technical and managerial training specific to Bellway’s timber frame developments
- Develop and deliver training on low‑carbon technologies (air source heat pumps, PV, etc.) aligned to Future Homes
- Establish an Excellence in Construction Programme in collaboration with the L&D department to formalise training and succession for construction roles
- Help in the creation of a centralised training dashboard using L&D training data demonstrate the link to site quality and compliance metrics
- Represent Bellway at industry forums and external events
- Work with the future talent team to support the development of trade apprentices

Experience, Qualifications and Skills
Experience
- Proven experience in construction training and site management
- Experience of designing and delivering construction related training programmes
- Comfortable with facilitation both face to face and online
- In depth knowledge of NHBC quality standards and modern methods of construction
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and training design methodologies
- Experience of facilitating face to face learning across multiple locations
- Experience working with apprenticeship frameworks and vocational qualifications
- Experience in a FTSE250 or large‑scale construction business
Qualifications and Training
- Strong understanding of UK housebuilding processes and standards
- Relevant teaching or training qualification (e.g. PTLLS, CertEd, TAP, CIPD, Level 3 Award in Education and Training)
- CITB, NHBC or similar body experience
Skills and Aptitude
- Exceptional facilitation and presentation skills
- Strong written communication and instructional design ability
- Confident in building rapport and credibility with diverse audiences
- Highly organised with strong time and travel management skills
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office and learning technologies
- Ability to influence and coach across all levels
- Self‑motivated and able to work autonomously
- Committed to diversity and inclusion
The Role and Working Conditions
- Field based role, with nationwide travel including regular time at Group HQ in Newcastle upon Tyne
- Travel to all Divisions as and when required with an expectation of 3 days each week in division
