Here at Langdons, we have an amazing opportunity for 2 x Apprentice Workshop Technicians to join the team based in Bridgwater. This apprenticeship provides a unique opportunity to learn through a mixture of on the job experience and block release training through an apprenticeship provider. You will learn about diagnosing and repairing a variety of HGV vehicles, under the guidance of experienced professionals. The apprentice will develop the essential skills and knowledge required to excel in their role of an HGV Vehicle Technician. The role is based on a Monday-Friday 08:00-16:00 working week. You will receive a starting salary of £18,928.07 and once qualified could earn up to £42,000.

The Apprentice Workshop Technician role:

  • You will be undertaking a fixed period of training to achieve an apprenticeship qualification (3–4-year period).
  • Ensuring the company fleet is effectively serviced and repaired on a cost-effective and timely basis within company and regulatory requirements and to keep us within our operator’s license obligations.

What you’ll be doing as our Apprentice Workshop Technician:

  • Learning how to ensure vehicles are repaired and maintained in accordance with prescribed standards.
  • Learning how to prepare and present vehicles and trailers for MOT inspections.
  • Learning how to diagnose vehicle-related defects using available diagnostic equipment and arrange for relevant action to be taken.
  • Ensuring high levels of safety and cleanliness at all times and the required house-keeping duties are meeting the required standards, to meet Health and Safety requirements.
  • Updating and maintaining appropriate records and ensuring all relevant information is shared with relevant departments on a timely basis.
  • Completing the necessary paperwork to an excellent standard to keep us legal and DVSA compliant.

Training:

  • Follow ongoing training plan to ensure all Learning Outcomes are met over the duration of the apprenticeship.
  • Be diligent and committed to the apprenticeship process and make sure that any concerns or questions are raised with the appropriate person.
  • Work together with the training provider and Stef Langdons to meet all expectations of the apprenticeship.
  • Attend and take part in off site training at regular intervals (usually every 2 months).
