Location: Lazonby, Cumbria, CA10 1BG

Salary: From £16.56 per hour, plus 25% overtime rates

Job Type: Full - Time, Permanent

About Us: At Bells of Lazonby, baking has been at the heart of what we do since 1946. Still independently owned by the Bell family, we combine craft skills with large-scale production to create products we’re proud of, and we know the secret ingredient behind our success is our people. We have two bakeries on site in Lazonby - a conventional bakery and a dedicated free from bakery, from which we supply many high street coffee shops and major supermarkets with sweet bakery treats, such as cakes, traybakes, pies and tarts.

Job Overview: We are looking for a dedicated Gluten Free Production Operative to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating machinery and assembling food products in a fast-paced environment. The role requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to work effectively within a team to meet production goals. Please note that the role involves heavy manual labour and standing for long periods of time therefore physical strength and dexterity is important.

Shifts Available: Hours are 38.75 per week worked over 5 days starting on a Sunday. Start times are at a mixture of 6pm and 8pm, depending on production needs.

The Role:

  • Follow work instructions and recipes to complete tasks efficiently
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth production
  • Operate food production equipment safely and effectively
  • Work on different production lines as required
  • Weighing and checking raw materials before production
  • Ensuring correct product labelling and packaging
  • Complete quality and safety paperwork as necessary
  • Ensure products meet the required quality standards
  • Reporting any faults or issues with machinery to supervisors

You:

  • Physically fit and dexterous to perform manual handling tasks
  • Ability to speak and understand English
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Able to maintain focus on repetitive tasks
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Flexible with work duties and willing to adapt as needed
