As Technical Director – Fire & Asset Compliance, you will hold strategic technical governance responsibility across Bellrock’s Fire Engineering, Fire Risk, Building Surveying, Six‑Facet Surveys, Asbestos Management and Water Hygiene services.

You will be accountable for the integrity, consistency and regulatory defensibility of all technical outputs across these disciplines.

This role ensures that methodologies, templates, accreditations, and competence frameworks remain aligned with current legislation, industry standards and third‑party certification requirements.

Operating at senior level, you will provide independent technical oversight separate from operational delivery, safeguarding professional standards, protecting professional indemnity exposure, and ensuring audit readiness across the business.

What you will do

  • Providing strategic technical governance across Fire and Asset Compliance disciplines, ensuring services remain legally compliant, technically robust and industry‑aligned.
  • Owning and maintaining all technical templates, reporting standards, survey methodologies and governance frameworks across the division.
  • Overseeing third‑party accreditations including (but not limited to) UKAS schemes, BAFE, FIRAS, ISO standards and other relevant certification frameworks.
  • Leading external audits and accreditation renewals, ensuring continuous compliance and readiness.
  • Establishing and maintaining competence frameworks aligned to regulatory expectations, including the Building Safety Act, BS 8674 and discipline‑specific standards.
  • Monitoring legislative change, regulatory reform and emerging industry guidance, ensuring timely implementation across service lines.
  • Providing authoritative interpretation of new legislation and statutory guidance across fire safety, building compliance, asbestos management and water hygiene.
  • Overseeing CPD strategy across the division, ensuring structured technical development and compliance with professional body requirements.
  • Acting as final escalation point for complex technical disputes, contentious regulatory matters or audit challenges.
  • Supporting risk management and professional indemnity governance through review of high‑risk outputs and systemic improvements.
  • Collaborating with operational leaders to ensure technical standards are embedded within delivery teams.
  • Contributing to strategic service development, ensuring new services are technically validated before market release.
  • Supporting bid submissions and client tenders where technical credibility and governance assurance are critical.

What does it take?

  • Extensive senior‑level experience across fire safety, engineering, building surveying or asset compliance disciplines.

• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks including

  • Building Safety Act 2022
  • Fire Safety Act 2021
  • Approved Document B
  • Control of Asbestos Regulations
  • ACOP L8 and HSG 274
  • Relevant British Standards across compliance disciplines
  • Experience overseeing UKAS or equivalent accredited schemes.
  • Strong understanding of professional indemnity risk management and governance frameworks.
  • Chartered status in a relevant discipline (e. g. CEng, MRICS, MCIOB, MIFire E or equivalent) strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience developing technical policy, frameworks or national standards.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams.

In this role, the successful candidate would be required to work from the London, Paddington office and working two days a week with the team and the rest of the week can be worked from home.
