Bellrock Compliance is bringing a new service into its offering and seeks an experienced Building Regulations Principal Designer to work on a range of projects across public and private sectors, including new build, refurbishment, tall building remediation and maintenance, NHS, universities and data centres throughout London, the Home Counties, and the Southeast of England. The role involves travelling to sites, reporting, and representing Bellrock Compliance to clients and contractors. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who can demonstrate strong leadership and a “can‑do” attitude.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice on the Building Safety Act and Building Regulations.
- Apply and implement the Building Safety Act 2022 and other relevant legislation at project level.
- Plan, manage and monitor design work by conducting plan checks and reviewing designs for compliance with Building Regulations.
- Cooperate, coordinate and communicate with all duty holders to ensure the design work complies with building regulations.
- Prepare written reports (e.g., End of Design Stage Reports) and maintain Building Regulations Trackers.
- Collaborate with the principal contractor and share information relevant to the planning, management and monitoring of the building work.
- Review and consider all comments from the principal contractor.
- Assist the client in providing information to other designers and contractors if requested.
- Within 28 days after the end of appointment, provide a document explaining the arrangement put in place to fulfil duties.
- Manage agreed fees, confirm invoicing, close out appointments and support debtor control.
- Explore potential cross‑sell opportunities across the wider Bellrock teams.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in the construction industry with experience of Building Regulations, leading or reviewing designs.
- Excellent working knowledge and understanding of BSA 2022 and appropriate legislation.
- Strong understanding of the design and construction process, with hands‑on experience in inspecting buildings and properties.
- Degree in a construction‑related field (design‑focused preferred).
- Active membership of professional bodies such as RICS, CABE, CIOB, ARB, RIBA is desirable.
- Full and clean driver’s licence.
- Willingness to travel to varied sites across London, the Home Counties, and the Southeast.
- High motivation and good communication skills with interpersonal and organisational ability.
