  • Multi Skilled Engineer / Water Hygiene Technician
  • London - Field Based

Responsible for delivering planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs, fault finding and remedial work across a portfolio of commercial properties.

A good all‑rounded engineer able to turn their hands to plumbing, drainage, toilet blockages and general fabric repairs.

Provides water treatment PPM to ensure customers remain fully compliant.

Works independently across multiple sites, maintaining building services, plant and equipment safely, efficiently and in compliance with statutory and company requirements.

Provides high‑standard customer service, responds promptly to maintenance requests, completes accurate records of work undertaken and contributes to continuous improvement of property performance and client satisfaction.

  • Trade Related Tasks
  • Perform planned and reactive trade‑related maintenance within assigned areas, utilising skills and expertise as allocated by the Scheduler and/or relevant managers.
  • Respond to electrical faults and issues promptly, diagnosing and repairing faults as necessary.
  • Install and maintain systems and equipment to the highest standards.
  • Attend to emergency repairs promptly and participate in out‑of‑hours call‑out rotations when necessary.
  • Diagnose and provide solutions to rectify faults, escalating issues when necessary.
  • Take measurements, estimate labour, and identify material requirements for follow‑on works via the red reporting system.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, including any follow‑up actions required.
  • Collaborate with other trades to support broader maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Compliance
  • Ensure timely, accurate submission of electronic worksheets and timesheets.
  • Provide accurate paper‑based documents where required.
  • Submit detailed task reports and red reports, as necessary.
  • Provide draft quotes for follow‑on works.
  • Capture and deliver photographic (before and after) records of completed work.
  • Ensure full compliance with client requirements for signing in/out of record books (Bellrocks folders), scanning off at the end of each task.
  • Maintain and exercise divergence with company plant/equipment – promptly highlighting defectives to line managers when necessary.
  • Internal & External Customer Relations
  • Always uphold the company’s professional image.
  • Foster strong relationships with colleagues, clients and stakeholders through effective communication.
  • Efficiently report any delays or issues to Schedulers, Supervisors and Managers.
  • Resolve client‑related concerns or disputes with a purposeful approach.
  • Ensure workspaces are always kept clean and orderly.
  • Water‑Hygiene Related Task
  • Carry out weekly/daily flushing.
  • Carry out weekly sampling for laboratory testing.
  • Carry out 6‑monthly thermostatic mixing valve servicing.
  • Conduct risk assessments and inspections of water systems, including cold water tanks and pipework.
  • Stay current with industry standards, codes and regulations, ensuring compliance in all activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment status and service reports.
  • Ensure tools, materials and equipment are used safely and stored correctly.
  • Adhere to all health and safety guidelines, including correct use of PPE.
  • Provide excellent customer service when working in occupied rooms/areas.
  • Multi‑Skilled Technical & Operational Duties
  • Carry out planned, reactive maintenance engineering tasks in line with allocated work schedules.
  • Undertake job‑related activities appropriate to skills, competence and qualifications.
  • Inspect, fault‑find, and diagnose issues, providing appropriate solutions.
  • Complete installation, repair or maintenance work as required.
  • Carry out testing, inspection and commissioning where applicable.
  • Ensure tools, equipment and materials are used correctly and maintained appropriately.
  • Identify and report any follow‑on work requirements.
  • Health & Safety
  • Work inline with the company’s Safe System of Work.
  • Adhere to Method Statement, ensuring POWRA in place at all times.
  • Conduct work in a safe and diligent manner, adhering to company policies, procedures, risk & method statements.
  • Assist in monitoring practices and routines to ensure compliance with relevant SHE legislation and regulations.
  • Compliance & Administration
  • Complete accurate documentation, including worksheets, reports and records.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.
  • Maintain records of work completed and materials used.
  • Report defects, incidents and non‑compliance issues promptly.
  • Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Maintain a professional and positive image at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Provide clear updates on work progress and issues.
  • Support the resolution of service‑related issues where required.
  • Ensure work areas are left clean, safe and tidy.
  • General Responsibilities
  • Work flexibly to meet operational requirements.
  • Participate in training and development activities.
  • Contribute to toolbox talks, team meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support colleagues and collaborate across teams when required.
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role, skills and competence level.
  • Participate in the out‑of‑hours call rota as per the latest published schedule.

What does it take?

  • Relevant technical qualifications or certifications for trade bias.
  • Demonstrable experience in a relevant engineering or technical field.
  • Understanding of health, safety and environmental practices.
  • Ability to interpret technical information and instructions.
  • Basic IT literacy for record‑keeping and communication.
  • Understanding of SFG20 maintenance standards.
  • General building services knowledge, including HVAC plant.
  • Valid driving licence.
  • L8 (ACOP L8) awareness – understanding of HSE Approved Code of Practice for Legionella control.
  • Basic Water Hygiene / Monitoring Training.
  • City & Guilds Level 2 Award in Legionella Awareness (desirable).

Work from the various sites across London.

Monday to Friday – 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
