As Engineering Supervisor at Bellrock, you will lead and support a team of engineers to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of hospital facilities. You will play a key role in delivering both planned and reactive maintenance, driving team performance, and maintaining high standards across all engineering services.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake planned and reactive maintenance tasks as directed.
  • Diagnose faults and provide practical recommendations and solutions.
  • Measure, scope, and estimate labour and materials for follow-on works.
  • Work closely with the operations manager to drive efficiency into all areas of the team.
  • Supervise the daily activities of the engineering and maintenance team.
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance issues and critical system failures.
  • Ensure full compliance with HTM guidance, HSE regulations, and all relevant statutory requirements.
  • Identify and report health & safety risks, poor practices, or non-compliance.
  • Provide accurate and detailed worksheets for maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
  • Manage contractors, issue permits to work and ensure their work meets required standards.
  • Deliver toolbox talks, training, and team development activities.
  • Support and participate in audits and inspections, ensuring ongoing compliance readiness.
  • Act as a technical point of contact for engineers, including out-of-hours support when required.

Qualifications

  • 18th Edition – essential.
  • NVQ Level 3 – essential.
  • Inspection and Testing – essential.
  • Basic competency in using technology – familiarity with CAFM systems.
  • Strong understanding of HTM, Health, Safety and environmental legislation and working practices – essential.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of plantroom systems such as AHUs, LV Switchgear, UPS, Medical Gas, Steam Plant and Chillers.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) – essential.
  • Leadership and team management ability.
  • Must be able to communicate well both verbally and digitally; detailed reports are required for all jobs.
  • Approachable, polite, and supportive team member.
  • Calm under pressure, with a proactive and solutions-focused mindset.
  • AI fluency & learning mindset: actively use AI, demonstrate strong curiosity about new technologies, and take ownership of continuously improving how you think, work, and deliver.

Working Arrangements

The successful candidate will work from St George's Hospital, Tooting (SW17 0GT) Monday to Friday, 08:00-17:00. Flexible and remote work is available only where the role and business needs allow.
