Responsibilities
- Menu planning (School meals & Café), ensuring all statutory nutritional values are met, meals are of a high quality and good value for money.
- Oversee and undertake food preparation and cooking ensuring all hygiene and temperature control measures are met and recorded where required.
- Manage staff resources to ensure the needs of the business and the Services Output Specification are met.
- Manage allergen risk control, adhere to statutory procedures and maintain all relevant documentation.
- Stock ordering, control, and management, ensuring value for money procurement is always obtained, as is minimal waste and optimum stock holdings.
- Serving of meals to customers, temperature recording and portion control in accordance with the Bellrock Catering Operations policy.
- Providing pre‑booked hospitality menu for training, conferences, and meetings at the Castle Hill Centre.
- Maintain a high standard of kitchen hygiene and safety, including daily documentation in the Bellrock Food Safety Logbook.
- General kitchen and café duties, e.g., washing of crockery, cutlery, and equipment; setting up and clearing away food and equipment, cleaning of kitchen, its surrounds and equipment including dining tables and chairs.
- Financial reconciliation of cash and card payments in accordance with local Bellrock processes.
- Maintain excellent personal hygiene and working practices in accordance with the Food Safety Act and other relevant legislation.
- Ensure compliance concerning regulations relating to Health and Safety in the workplace.
- Lead a small catering team in the provision of a cost‑effective, value for money Catering Service.
- Perform any other reasonable and appropriate duties as directed by the Cook Supervisor.
- Attend and complete recognised training in relation to Food Safety, Nutrition, Health and Safety and all mandatory training required by the business.
- Work in a safe manner for the benefit of the facilities, company personnel, building users, site‑based contractors, visitors, and members of the public.
- Ensure that statutory requirements, codes of practice and procedures relating to the Health and Safety at Work Act, Food Safety and other relevant regulations are met in full.
- Take the lead of all services and resources in the absence of the Cook Supervisor.
- Support the management of a small team of catering operatives and influence a client‑first culture to deliver high standards consistently.
- Actively support the Cook Supervisor in promoting a safety‑first environment.
- Use your skills, experience and imagination to grow our business and make the Castle Hill Café and our hospitality services the first choice for our clients.
Qualifications & Skills
- Possess a Food Safety Level 3 Certificate.
- Experience in supervising multi‑faced catering operations.
- Able to utilise modern catering equipment efficiently.
