Birmingham or Leicester office (hybrid working available)
Role Overview
Bellrock is looking to grow its CDM consultancy team, offering an exciting opportunity to provide dedicated CDM and Health & Safety advisory support to a key commercial client across refurbishment, remediation, maintenance and construction projects. The role will involve working closely with client project teams, contractors, Principal Designers and Principal Contractors to oversee CDM processes, support compliance and promote safe project delivery. The successful candidate will lead the day-to-day CDM advisory function, provide practical guidance, manage governance processes and, where required, undertake Principal Designer duties. We are looking for a proactive individual with strong leadership skills, sound judgement and a collaborative approach who can build trusted client relationships, support effective health and safety management and drive continuous improvement across the client’s estate and contractor network.
Key Responsibilities
- You will act as a key CDM and Health & Safety advisor to the client, providing clear, practical and proportionate advice to support compliance with CDM 2015 and associated health and safety legislation.
- You’ll administer the client’s CDM appointment process, preparing and issuing formal Principal Designer and Principal Contractor appointments and maintaining appropriate records and evidence of acceptance.
- You’ll manage and coordinate the client’s Health & Safety forums, including preparing agendas, coordinating inputs, tracking actions and supporting the communication of key health and safety matters across project teams and the supply chain.
- You’ll monitor contractor health and safety performance through agreed KPIs, collating and reviewing performance information, identifying trends or areas of concern and supporting appropriate follow-up actions with the client and contractors.
- You’ll undertake supplier and contractor competency checks, reviewing relevant health and safety and CDM information, maintaining the associated competency register and ensuring records remain current and auditable.
- You’ll undertake planned and reactive Health & Safety inspections across the client’s estate, producing clear, high-quality reports, identifying non-conformances and areas for improvement, and tracking actions through to appropriate close-out.
- You’ll provide ongoing CDM and Health & Safety advice, guidance and coaching to the client’s project teams, contractors and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- You’ll maintain accurate governance records, registers, inspection outputs, KPI information and action trackers, and provide regular reporting to the client on compliance performance, emerging risks and areas requiring attention.
Skills & Experience
- 2–5 years’ experience in the construction industry, with a strong background in CDM and Health & Safety advisory or assurance activities.
- Excellent working knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and relevant Health & Safety legislation.
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate, ideally with incorporated membership of the Association for Project Safety (IMaPS) or IOSH.
- Full, clean driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across the UK.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with clients, contractors and colleagues.
- Highly organised and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and take ownership of responsibilities.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach, with sound decision-making skills and a natural curiosity for problem-solving.
- A collaborative team player who enjoys engaging with stakeholders, sharing knowledge and supporting the development of others.
- A positive, accountable attitude, with a genuine desire to make a difference and deliver high-quality outcomes.
- An interest in emerging technologies, with practical experience using AI in day-to-day work and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
AI fluency & learning mindset: We are looking for people who actively use AI in their day-to-day work, demonstrate strong curiosity about new technologies, and take ownership for continuously improving how they think, work, and deliver.
