Bellevue Law is a Chambers and Legal 500 ranked boutique firm, with a team of 29 senior consultant lawyers – including 23 employment specialists as well as 2 Associate Employment Lawyers. Our consultants all have backgrounds from leading international law firms and specialise in employment law, litigation, investigations and regulatory work.

Our Culture

Bellevue Law was founded 11 years ago and is committed to ethical business practices. We are proud to be a certified B Corp and we were the first UK law firm to be accredited by the Good Business Charter. Much of our work comes from referrals, and clients rated us at 9.6/10 when asked how likely they are to recommend us to a friend or colleague in our most recent client survey. We have a friendly and inclusive culture, with regular social and training events and a supportive ethos which differentiates us from other consulting firms. The firm is based in Dallington Street near to Clerkenwell Green and a convenient 10 minute walk from Farringdon station.

The Role

Our successful Employment team is very busy, and we are looking for an Employment Law Associate to join our growing team. The role can either be office-based or a hybrid role (with the successful candidate expected to work from the office 60% of the time). We act for both employers and senior executives and would like to hear from lawyers at around 3-5 years PQE who would like to further their experience in both areas – but with a focus on supporting our fast-growing employer practice, servicing a range of clients including multinationals, professional services firms and fast-growth businesses.

The successful candidate will have a background from a strong employment law practice, great technical abilities, client care and ethical standards and interpersonal skills. You will also need to have keen interest in networking and business development, supporting the marketing efforts of the firm with a view to building your own practice over time.

The role will include:

  • Assisting the firm’s Principal and Senior Consultants on a wide range of complex contentious and non-contentious employment law matters, acting for both employers and senior executives (including, for example, assisting in Employment Tribunal claims, advising on disciplinary, discrimination and whistleblowing issues and providing support with redundancy processes).
  • Managing and running less complex employment law matters by providing front-line support directly to both employer and senior executive clients on a range of contentious and non-contentious employment law matters (including, for example, advising on settlement agreements, conducting contract and policy reviews and designing and providing training).
  • Proactive involvement in a range of business development and marketing activities including (but not limited to) attending and speaking at appropriate networking events and conferences, writing social media posts, articles and other thought pieces on topical issues and preparing client updates on key legal issues. Enthusiasm is more important than extensive prior BD experience as we will provide bespoke support to help you develop your skills and your own profile and practice.
  • Responsibility for providing technical and mentoring support and guidance to the firm’s trainees and paralegals.

Key requirements:

  • Experience gained at a strong employment law practice, acting for either employers or senior executives (or both!)
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of UK employment legislation
  • Strong technical skills with experience of Microsoft 365
  • Client focussed – with the ability to quickly build excellent rapport to gain the confidence of our clients
  • Strong communication and networking skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Thrives as part of a small, busy team

We are committed to equality and diversity in both our workplace and our recruitment process.
